Adam is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist and Supervisor (CSAT-S)*. He received his M.A. and Ed.S in Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also has a B.S. degree in Marketing from Jacksonville State University and a M.S. in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has served on several professional boards in the mental health profession. Adam has over 20-years’ experience in the counseling field. He works with those affected by sexual addiction and compulsivity. The therapy involves individual counseling, group therapy and family counseling. He also works with couples to restore intimacy in their marriage. In addition, Adam counsels adults and teenagers dealing with sexual/pornography issues, depression, anxiety, grief, anger, trauma, and abuse. He also facilitates workshops and intensives on sexual addiction, restoring intimacy within a coupleship, parenting and other related topics. He and his wife, Mandy, are the parents of two sons and are members of a local church.
Michelle Jennings - LPC, CSAT, CPTT-Candidate
Michelle finished her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Alabama and has a B.S. in Nursing from Auburn University. She is an ASAT (Associate Sexual Addictions Therapist) under the supervision of Adam Calvert. Michelle has been trained in Brainspotting (Phase 1 & 2, Master Class, and Brainspotting and Addictions).
Michelle has a passion for working with those who have experienced betrayal trauma, sexual addiction, substance abuse, and families affected by addiction. In addition, she works with people struggling with anxiety, boundaries, codependency, self-esteem and core beliefs. Michelle’s desire is to help people discover who they were created to be and live life to the fullest. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her three dogs.
Amber Chesser, ALC
Amber graduated with a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health from Liberty University. She received her B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama. Amber has worked with the student ministry of her home church First Baptist Trussville for over ten years and counseled students at Samford University during her internship. Counseling has been an important part of Amber and her family’s lives through the years. Her passion for meeting people where they are and guiding them through life’s challenges is what lead her to a career in counseling. Amber provides a safe place for clients to grow by using integrated therapy and implementing evidence-based approaches specific to each client’s needs. Amber works with pre-teens, teens, young adults, women, couples and offers premarital counseling as a certified SYMBIS™ facilitator. She helps clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, boundaries, relationship goals, core beliefs, co-dependency and self-esteem. Amber seeks to help each client feel heard and valued while equipping them with tools to reach their goals. She believes in working with the client on a holistic level making sure to incorporate their psychological, social and spiritual needs while providing hope and encouragement.
Amber is married to her husband and they have two children. In her spare time, Amber enjoys traveling, drinking coffee, camping and spending time with family & friends.
Brad Brown, LPC, MDiv, CSAT-Candidate
Brad is a Certified Sexual Addictions Therapist Candidate, a Brainspotting Practitioner, a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator and has completed level one training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He also spent a year training at Birmingham Recovery Center, an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program. He holds an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University, an MDiv from Beeson Divinity School, and a B.A in communication from Auburn University where he also minored in psychology. Before entering the counseling field he spent 12 years working with adults, couples, families, teenagers and college students in the context of the local church.
Brad desires to create a safe space for clients and to offer compassion and curiosity in their journey toward wholeness. Brad has a particular interest in counseling adults and teenagers dealing with sexual/pornography issues, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, grief, anger, relationship issues and trauma.
He enjoys strong coffee, reading psychology, playing the drums, and golfing. He and his wife have a newborn daughter and a high-maintenance mini golden doodle named Oxford. They are members at a local church where Brad is on the Pastoral Staff.
Michael Hoye, MS, ALC, APTT
Michael graduated from Troy University with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Heath Counseling and is being supervised by Adam Calvert, LPC. He is working towards a Certification as a Partner Trauma Therapist(CPTT). He will use this training to walk with men who have experience Betrayal Trauma. Michael developed a passion for counseling and helping others through his many life experiences and through life-changing individual counseling he has experienced over the years. Michael works with both individuals and couples at the Mountain Brook office or online who seek therapy for trauma, attachment disorders, relationship issues, grief, depression and anxiety. He is also working to complete a military and first responder certification from Troy University. Michael desires to build strong relationships with his clients and to walk with them through life struggles to reach a fulfilled life.
Michael enjoys spending time with friends and family, mountain biking, lacrosse, and has an obsession for college and professional sports. He is also an active member at a local church in Birmingham.
Ella Walker, LMSW
Ella is a Licensed Master of Social Work. She spent a year training at Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, a foster care and adoption agency in Birmingham, AL. She also spent a year training at Birmingham Recovery Center, an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program. She holds an M.A. in Social Work from Samford University, as well as a B.A. in Human Development and Family Science from Samford University.
Ella has a passion for working with children ages 3-10 who have experienced difficulties within their life. This passion began at a young age, as she grew up as the oldest of five children. She helps children struggling with behavior issues, grief and loss, anxiety, self-esteem, adoption, and life transitions. She desires to provide a safe space for children to play in her playroom in order to give them space to ‘play out’ experiences and feelings. Play therapy fosters emotional wellness, enhances social relationships, increases personal strengths, and facilitates communication. Ella longs for play therapy to empower her clients toward growth and maturity as they express themselves through the magic of play. She desires for individuals, no matter what their age, to have a safe place that provides healing. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, doing Crossfit, and playing with kids.
Kathryn Morris, LICSW, CPTT-Candidate
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Kathryn is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who holds a Masters in Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Science, both from Samford University. Kathryn is a certified Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner and is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, equipping her to help individuals and couples build strong, healthy relationships. She specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families navigating challenges such as attachment issues, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and grief. She has a desire to work with spouses who have experienced betrayal trauma and working towards her CPTT (Certified Partner Trauma Therapist) certification. Kathryn has a passion for creating a safe and nurturing environment where clients feel empowered to process their emotions and develop resilience. She has three years of experience as a school counselor and previously worked with foster parents to provide support and resources for successful caregiving. Outside of her clinical work, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going on walks, and reading a good book.
Adair Hill, ME.d, ALC, NCC
Adair will begin accepting new clients in late July 2025.
Adair Hill is an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Auburn University and her M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Montevallo specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Adair has a deep passion for walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges. She is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and accepting environment where clients feel free to process their experiences, explore their identity, and uncover their purpose. She believes in meeting each person exactly where they are.
She has completed clinical experience at a nonprofit counseling center, where she worked with children, individuals, and families. This work deepened her understanding of the emotional, relational, and developmental needs of clients across the lifespan.
Outside the counseling room, Adair enjoys being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, watching movies, listening to music, trying new restaurants, and going to concerts.Adair practices an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Expressive Arts Therapy. She tailors each client’s therapeutic journey to their unique goals, preferences, and needs, and enjoys working with clients of all ages. Adair is under the supervision of Adam Calvert, Ed.S, LPC-S, CSAT-S.
Coleman Jennings, Student Counselor
Coleman is an intern completing his Masters in Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and will be joining the practice upon completion. A native of Birmingham, he graduated from Vestavia Hills High School and then received his B.S. in Psychology from Birmingham Southern College. He is being supervised by Adam Calvert, LPC-S, CSAT-S.
During college, he played soccer all four years and played semi-pro for Lionsbridge FC and then a season at UAB while in graduate school. His love for soccer goes beyond being an athlete to coaching and leading youth camps and giving personal instruction. He has helped Vestavia High School as an assistant coach, as well as an assistant coach at Birmingham Southern.
In addition, Coleman has the life experience that has given him a heart for connecting with those who face the wide array of life’s challenges and struggles. For the teenager, young adult, or college student who struggles with depression, anxiety, peer pressure, substance abuse/addiction, alongside other challenges in this season of life, Coleman is especially gifted in creating a place of refuge and safety. He is welcoming and gentle, real and relatable, and seeks to provide comfort and direction in the pathway to health.
In his free time, Coleman enjoys worship and activities in his church, fellowship with his friends and family, and trying to keep up with his yellow lab, Chief. He remains very active in a multitude of sports, including soccer, weightlifting and golf.
Mandy Calvert - Office Manager, Career Direct Consultant and Life Coach
Mandy is the Business Manager for Calvert + Associates. Previously, she was the V.P. of Accounting for her family’s business, Mauk Advertising Specialties, Inc. Now Mandy is a certified Life Coach and has been trained as a Career Direct Consultant. She offers an assessment to help others find direction as they pursue their career dreams or potentially making a change in their career.
